Thinking about colon hydrotherapy but unsure what actually happens at an appointment? It is completely normal to have questions before a first visit: what will happen, will it be uncomfortable, and will it feel awkward? This guide walks through a first visit at Optimal Wellness in Templeogue, step by step, so you know what to expect before you book.
Booking your appointment
Appointments are booked online at optimalwellness.ie/booking, where you can choose a day and time that suits you. Saturday and Sunday appointments are available on request. A colon hydrotherapy session costs €110.
Colon hydrotherapy is a complementary wellness practice. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions, and it is not a substitute for medical care.
When you arrive
Your appointment takes place in a calm, private treatment room at the clinic in Templeogue, Dublin 6W. Every treatment is professionally tailored to the individual, with a gentle and controlled approach throughout, so your first visit starts with time to settle in and ask anything you are unsure about.
Your treatment is carried out by Erika Doolan, a registered colon hydrotherapist and nutritional therapist, with professional memberships including RICTAT, NTOI and NRRI.
During the treatment
The clinic uses the Herrmann Hydromat, a German-manufactured colon hydrotherapy system. It gently introduces warm, filtered water into the colon, with water flow and temperature controlled throughout.
It is a closed system. That means waste stays enclosed within the equipment and away from the treatment environment, and high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and privacy are maintained for every client.
Your comfort is monitored during the whole session, and the flow and temperature can be adjusted where appropriate. Tailored herbal infusions are included complimentary with every treatment.
Worried it might feel awkward?
If the idea feels a little awkward, that is understandable. The treatment is carried out in private, your comfort and dignity come first, and the closed system keeps the whole process discreet. You can ask questions at any point, before or during your appointment.
